I’m 25 and live in Paradise, CA. To be honest though, I don’t feel much connection to CA though I’ve lived here since 2005. I was born and raised in MA and moved directly after high school. Once a New Englander, always a New Englander!
I attended CSU-Chico and received my BA in History. My focus was on Russian History, though my passion lies in both Russian and African History. I had planned to get my PhD in History, focusing on Soviet-African relations, but time changes things! Senior year of college I decided I really wasn’t ready/didn’t care to go the PhD route and started exploring other options besides becoming a professor. In the history field my passion is in research, not in writing and from there that led my to the Library & Information Science field.
Currently I’m a graduate student at San Jose State- Library & Information Science program. I’m very excited about this field, and can’t wait to actually get my foot in the door working in a library setting. Small steps though! I began volunteering at my local public library and that did lead into a temp/on call job. I really can’t wait until I can make the library setting my full time career though. So right now I still volunteer and work on call as a library assistant for Butte County. I also work at a hotel, managing the evening shift full time.
As for anything else I care about, I’m very much interested in international music, different languages, international relations & politics. I’ll admit to a yearly obsession with Eurovision. I just love the hooky songs and absolutely prefer the countries use their own language for their host songs.
Well look forward to meeting new people in my area of study, and any of us other SLIS students!
